The 38-year-old also finished around mid way of the Tour Down Under showing that he needed more cycling fitness.

“Worried would be too strong of a word. I’m aware of [my performance in Murcia], but not too stressed,” Armstrong told AP.

TEAM SKY’S Greg Henderson wrote on his Twitter, just after finishing runner up in the Tour Down Under: “ouch. just been informed if I won 2day I would have been 2nd overall at TDU. Takes a little of the gloss off to be honest.”

You’d say that after twice finishing second and finishing behind Australian Chris Sutton on the final day.

It left him with unfinished business.

But recently he picked up his third win of the year at Contres, France.

“I took the first win for Team Sky [the Down Under classic in Adelaide preceding the Tour Down Under] but it’s even more beautiful to win for Sky in France. Paris-Nice is such a prestigious race,” Henderson said after the podium ceremony.

“I don’t know what gear I had for the finish, probably 52×12, but it felt so big. I was lucky enough to be in the front. When I saw the move from Caisse d’Epargne and the yellow jersey [Lars Boom] jumping, I fortunately had the legs to go across with 15km to go. I also had the legs to win the sprint.”

Two other riders also hit the bus, but were treated at a local hospital and released.

Robinson received medical attention but died at the scene shortly after 11am on Saturday morning. According to reports, he was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.

Robinson, survived by his parents David and Pennie, and three brothers, Tom, Edward and James, was remembered by his father in an interview with the Examiner.

“We are so close and so supportive of each other – and the main part of our family has been torn away from us,” Robinson’s father said, recalling his victory in the Burnie Wheelrace as the proudest moment of his son’s cycling career.

“We have to keep Will’s memory alive and remember him the way he was – and the champion he was.”

Made with the best aeronautical fibres available (T600M) for the greatest stiffness to weight ratio of any Cinelli frame yet produced.

Lateral ribs in the top and down tube give lateral stiffness to the whole structure, improving bike handling in the toughest conditions.

The oversize BB30 bottom bracket and the single plug high profile chain stays increase efficiency when pedalling and minimise lateral deformation.

CYCLING Australia have confirmed the re-schedule date of the Herald Sun Tour.

It will move to February 2011 with the 58th race to be held from February 8-13.

Cycling Australia CEO Graham Fredericks told cyclingnews.com that there were three main elements to be considered when reaching the decision.

“In arriving at this decision the Board addressed three key objectives, firstly to protect the achievements of the Santos Tour Down Under; secondly to protect the integrity of Australian track cycling, namely the Australian Track Championships and thirdly to retain the Jayco Herald Sun Tour on the UCI calendar and restore the event to its previous stature and profile,” said Fredericks.

“Cycling is a growth sport in Australia both in terms of participation and profile and on the world stage Australia is a cycling success story,” Fredericks added. “Both the Santos Tour Down Under and the Jayco Herald Sun Tour have been major contributors to this success as has the crucial investment by corporate partners as well as Federal, State and Local governments.”

He said there would be a redevelopment of the Oceania cycling calendar.

“Therefore the Board has identified the redevelopment of the Oceania road calendar from mid-February through to April each year as a key priority,” he said.

“With this in mind Cycling Australia plans to work with the organisers of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour and other events in Australia and New Zealand to develop an exciting series of racing that will attract teams from Australia and New Zealand but will also showcase talent from Europe, Asian and North America.”
