Shimano Dura-Ace 7850 C24-CL

Industry leader Shimano may make some amazing cycling brakes, but they also produce some of the best road cycling wheels on the market. One of their many great ranges is the Dura-Ace series and in particular the 7850 C24-CL model.

While Shimano’s 7850 C24-CL wheels do not stand out in every area, they offer great balance in all departments and are regarded as one of the best all round cycling wheels on offer.

They are designed to balance key design elements and to deliver the best riding wheels for intended design use through a balance of opposing factors.

They are a light design, but not too light. They are stiff without being too restrictive. And they are an attractive design without being too innovative.

Probably the best feature about the wheels is the brake performance. Being a carbon fiber product, the braking on the Shimano Dura-Ace series are smooth, confident and powerful, with minimal pulsing or grabbing.

The C24s are subtle and understated in their performance – even the carbon wrap looks, at first glance, like a merely black anodized aluminum finish.

But If you ride Shimano or SRAM, these wheels are, for the money, one of the best blends of lightweight, stiffness and ride quality available.
