Louis Garneau Quartz Helmet

Louis Garneau has released some of the most respected and quality designed cycling products in the past decade, and in particular, his helmet range has been at the top of his portfolio.

With the success of previous releases including the Mundial, Diamond and Venturi helmets, the French Designer has taken the cotton wool of his next product, the Louis Garneau Quartz helmet.

Set for release in 2010, the Quartz helmet offers a lightweight and highly ventilated protective piece.

The helmet carries an interesting design which has a larger than average area of breathing space for the head, while maintaining a high level of safety for the rider.

The new MSB technology (a monocoque structural base that reinforces the perimeter for enhanced protection) allows for widening of the ventilation channels.

A patented Spiderlock Elite retention system allows for easy adjustment with just one hand with the angle of the helmet also able to be tailored for the perfect fit.

By far the standout in the up coming design is the Evacuation Channel technology, in which Louis Garneau’s own Pierre Perron said was critical in ensuring peak performance for riders.

“When we build a helmet, we take into account airflow, since the heat of the rider’s head must be evacuated in order to maintain performance. Moisture channels are designed to let the air in the front of the helmet flow through the helmet and exit at the back to efficiently keep the head cool.”

The Louis Garneau Quartz helmet looks to be one of the top releases in the next year, and while there has been no word on its price at this stage, it can be expected to be fairly expensive.
